Services

Weekly counseling sessions are ideal for developing trust as we work through the challenges in your life.  Right now, due to COVID 19, services are held using a HIPAA compliant website to ensure your that privacy is protected, you must also be living in California.
I work collaboratively with you and we build on your strengths and try to reduce the impacts of the negative parts of yourself.  To support your growth in-between sessions I often give handouts or video links that will support you during your treatment.

My specialties include:
  • anxiety including separation anxiety, insomnia and physical complaints such as stomach aches or headaches
  • anger and irritability, feeling overwhelmed
  • depression including a sad mood,  isolating from peers or family and avoiding activities or hobbies
  • low self esteem or feelings of hopelessness
  • grief and loss (after a break up, divorce or death)
  • inattention and impulsivity  related to ADHD or ADD
  • difficulty concentrating, procrastination or avoiding things that make you anxious or worried
  • the mood and behaviors after experiencing a trauma including, fear, being startled easily and avoiding places or people that remind you of the trauma
When working with teens, I believe the parent or caregiver's participation in the treatment is very important.  I hope to open the line of communication between parent/teen which helps to facilitate change not just with the client but with the family.

I was trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and incorporate EMDR in the tele-therapy sessions to work through anxiety, depression, small traumas and big trauma including:
  • a car or other type of accident
  • anxiety including social anxiety or specific phobia (such as an animal  phobia)
  • prior abuse (physical, emotional or sexual) or emotional neglect
  • grief (after the death of a loved one whether that is a person or a pet)
EMDR has proven to be  an effective treatment in reducing the symptoms connected to trauma (such as being startled easily, nervousness and difficulty concentrating). For more information,  go to the EMDR International Association at ww.emdria.org
